THE CONVENIENT LOCATION
GETTING AROUND
Notwithstanding the convenient location for entering the Kruger National Park for a day trip, a drive through the roads of Marloth Park will offer many sightings. You may even be lucky and get to see the beautiful giraffes that roam in certain parts of the park. With the exception of the main road running through the conservancy, all other roads are dirt roads and accessibility with a smaller normal sedan car may be problematic, specifically after heavy rainfall. There is also a viewing point on the fence on the banks of the Crocodile River overlooking the Kruger National Park and various other seating areas scattered along the fence, which runs parallel with Seekoei Road. The road along the fence is unfortunately only safely accessible with a 4x4 or at the very least a vehicle that is high off the ground.
RESTAURANTS
There are various lodges and restaurants throughout the park should you want to go out for a meal including, Jabula Lodge, Phumula Kruger Lodge, the Tin Shack and the Amazing Kruger View Restaurant, the latter being set in a particularly beautiful location with spectacular views of the Crocodile River and Kruger National Park and is the perfect place to go and enjoy a cocktail at sunset. A map of the park is available in the information folder in the house to guide you on your travels in the park. Both Ngwenya Lodge, situated approximately 9km outside of Marloth Park on the road to Komatipoort and the Kambaku Golf Course on the outskirts of Komatipoort also boast lovely restaurant in beautiful settings, also on the banks of the Crocodile River with stunning views of the Kruger National Park. Tambarina is a traditional Mozambiquan Portuguese restaurant that many will say serves the best prawns in the country – reserving a table is essential to avoid disappointment.
SHOPPING
The nearest town is the rural town of Komatipoort, approximately 25km from Marloth Park. There are two supermarkets in town – a Shoprite and Super Spar. We find the Super Spar to be great store and it is rare for us not to find what we need in the store - it stocks a substantial range of products and produce. A pharmacy can also be found in the same shopping centre as well as a hand full of other national chain stores. The nearest Woolworths is in Nelspruit, approximately 100km's back on the N4. Malelane, which is about 40km's back on the N4 has a shopping centre with quite a few national clothing chain stores (relatively small stores) as well as another Super Spar. For basic services and amenities, the following can be found in Marloth Park – • A fuel station and the Marlothi Centre on Olifant Road • Liquor Stores and small Convenience Shops are located in both the Marlothi Centre and the Bush Centre, also on Olifant Road • A small butchery can be found at the Bush Centre
